I am the Grandson of a Cattle Breeder

My grandfather bred and sold indigenous ‘Murrah’ Buffaloes from Haryana to Bombay.

Dairy farm was my father's passionate project that started with a home-run 5 buffalo dairy shed. Today, my brother runs a commercial dairy farm with 350+ cattle in Jabalpur.

Growing up around cattle, dairy was never theoretical, it was lived. The farm has been an institution that taught the impact of breed, feed, and care on milk quality.

Unlike tea, coffee, pulses, Milk is not graded

Milk production in India is highly fragmented, driven by village-level farms operating at household units by families. They lack access to good breeds and feed, as well as a grading system to check quality of milk. There is no grading based on milk quality at the milk collection level. Thus, no standard quality reaches production centres. Milk quality in India's decentralised system remains compromised.

Then who is fueling the A2 wave in India? Brands claiming better quality source from the same dairy supply chain.

We witnessed this shocking gap in the dairy supply chain in the country. Inheriting the knowledge of dairy farming and a close-knit dairy network to start with, we found ourselves best placed to contribute efforts at the producer level.

Quality cannot be imposed at the end but it has to be built at the farmer level

We started by segregating milk at our own farm, based on breeds - A2 Cow and A2 Buffalo. At that time, we were running a small milk distribution under our brand name 'Grandsons' Premium Dairy'. Over the period, we tied up with premium brands across India, increased milk collection at the village level and built a supply of traditional ghee.

Our efforts in building quality milk supply chain is now deep-rooted.
We are working with farmers on breed selection, promoting IVFs;
Conducting awareness on feed practices and making available quality feed;
Conducting veterinary camps and promoting practices of cattle care.
A mix of traditional knowledge and science.
